The medical faculty is one of the largest faculties of the University and can rightfully claim to be the largest medical faculty in the country. About 8,000 students from all over Russia, from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad, study at the medical faculty. The medical faculty provides training in the specialty “General Medicine”.
The structure of the medical faculty includes 48 departments, many of which take part in the educational process in most areas of training (specialties) implemented by the University. The departments of the disciplines of the mathematical-natural-science cycle retain the role of a forge of personnel for the departments and research institutions operating in the fundamental branches of biology and medicine. The departments of the disciplines of the humanitarian-socio-economic bloc are universally recognized methodological centers that determine the policy of teaching a foreign language, philosophy, bioethics, and the Latin language in medical schools. The scientific and pedagogical schools of the clinical departments of the faculty are unique, many of which are an integral part of the team of multidisciplinary university hospitals, successfully working at the bases – the leading clinical and research institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Federal Medical Biological Agency of Russia and the Moscow Department of Health.
The pride of the medical faculty is the faculty. Almost half of the departments are headed by academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Education. The majority of the faculty departments create textbooks and teaching aids that are examined in the Educational and Methodological Association of Russian Universities in Medical and Pharmaceutical Education and are used by most medical and pharmaceutical universities in our country.
