The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019 have just been revealed on February 27, 2019. 

Sechenov University is included in the “Medicine”ranking (451-500 group) that confirms its status as a world-class university.

The ranking methodology takes into account 4 indicators: academic reputation and employer reputation (based on global surveys of academics and employers conducted by QS), the number of citations per paper and H- index citations (based on information from the Scopus database).

“The rankings results indicate the progress made by Sechenov University within several years. Due to the rate of growth in scientific output and improvement of academic reputation, Sechenov University demonstrates transformation into a world-class university of Life Sciences focused on multidisciplinary studies, international research and implementation of research results into healthcare”,— notes Prof. Petr V. Glybochko, the University’s rector.

The QS WUR Rankings are drawn from two large global surveys – one of academics and another of employers that consist of:
-Insights of more than 83,000 academics who contributed over 1.25 million nominations to the QS Academic Survey-2019;
-Insights of over 42,000 employers who contributed 199,123 nominations to the QS Employer Survey-2019;
-Research data derived from Scopus database: 150 million citations obtained from 22 million academic papers.
These rankings compare over 1200 universities from 78 countries and provide students, university leaders, faculty members and employers with unique information on effectiveness of each institution.
