The Department of Biological Chemistry was established at the Medical Faculty of Moscow University in 1863 as the Department of Medical Chemistry and Physics, and then renamed the Department of Biological Chemistry in 1884.

The department teaches biochemistry course for students studying in the following specialties:

– medical business
– medical and preventive care
– dentistry
– Pharmacy (day, evening and correspondence courses)
– pediatrics
– bioengineering
– electronic medical equipment engineers (Bauman MSTU)
The course of biochemistry with full-time education is studied for two semesters, and for evening and correspondence courses – for one semester.

The department has implemented a quality management system, the documentation is maintained in working order. Students and staff are informed about the main provisions of the ISO standard documents regulating activities related to the operation of the QMS. This is recorded in the protocols of educational and methodical conferences of the department.
