The Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Rheumatology is organized in accordance with the decision of the Academic Council of the Moscow Medical Academy. I.M. Sechenov from September 1, 2005 and by the order of the Rector from September 22, 2005. Until February 1, 2006, the department was part of the faculty of postgraduate professional education of pediatricians.

Since February 2006, the department has been one of the leading departments of the newly created faculty of postgraduate professional education of pediatricians.

In accordance with the decision of the Academic Council I.M. Sechenov (protocol number 7 of 05/19/2010) and by order of the Rector (R-254 of 06/18/2010) The Faculty of Pediatrics has been established in the structure of the Academy. In connection with the reorganization of the faculty of postgraduate vocational education of pediatricians, by joining the Faculty of Pediatrics, the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Rheumatology became part of the new faculty.

Currently, the department has set new serious tasks: the development of training programs for pediatricians at the university stage. Undoubtedly, this is a very crucial stage in the life of the department. The quality of medical care for children and adolescents depends on the quality of training of doctors at the university stage, and the health of the younger generation and the nation as a whole depends.
