The department is located on the basis of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Center for Strategic Planning and Management of Biomedical Health Risks” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Director – Dr. med. Professor Sergei Mikhailovich Yudin.

The institution has a modern material and technical base. Classrooms are equipped with computer, audio and video equipment. There is a scientific medical library with educational, methodical and regulatory literature, an electronic database of NMD. Practical classes are conducted in the laboratories of microbiological and sanitary-hygienic profile, equipped with modern analytical and diagnostic devices and equipment.

The Department of Social Hygiene and the organization of the state sanitary and epidemiological service to ensure the sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the university was established in 1996 to improve the skills of the organizers and specialists of the sanitary and epidemiological service in the following specialties of additional professional education: social hygiene and the organization of the state sanitary and epidemiological service, sanitary and hygienic laboratory studies, and later clinical laboratory diagnostics. Classes were held with interns of the medical-preventive faculty, as well as retraining of specialists, general improvement with the issuance of certificates of specialists and thematic improvement on the subject of assessing the risks to public health from chemical factors and principles of socio-hygienic monitoring.
