The Department of Surgery MF is one of the oldest departments of the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov and founded in 1930.

The department has a rich historical experience in the organization of educational and professional activities of students, which is an integral part of the training and education of a preventive medical doctor.

Today, the department employs leading scientists and highly qualified teachers who are able to provide a high level of basic and professional training of students at the level of world requirements.

The priority activity of the department is the development of new technologies in coloproctology (minimally invasive technologies, treatment of colon cancer, the use of robotic and laparoscopic technologies), endoscopy and abdominal surgery (treatment of gallstone and peptic ulcer, chronic venous insufficiency, hemorrhoids, jaundice).

The department has the possibility of obtaining postgraduate education (internship, clinical residency and graduate school). Full-time form of education.
For surgeons and coloproctologists, there are educational programs for both retraining and advanced training.
